What is Juvenile Arthritis?

Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA) is the most common rheumatic disease in children under 16 years of age. It is an umbrella term for chronic joint inflammation in children that persists for more than 6 weeks with no identifiable cause. Eligibility

Who May Need This?

1

Children under 16 with persistent joint swelling for more than 6 weeks

2

3

Children with unexplained daily spiking fevers and salmon-colored rash

4

Children diagnosed with eye inflammation (uveitis) without obvious cause

Mechanism

How Does It Work?

Pediatric arthritis requires a completely different treatment approach from adult disease. We use weight-appropriate child-friendly DMARDs, biological therapies, and painless ultrasound-guided intra-articular steroid injections (under local anesthesia when needed) to rapidly control inflammation. Our goal is complete remission — allowing children to grow normally and participate fully in school and activities.
